The WGSS timetable is built from the original course requests students selected in February and then courses students verified again in Spring. The timetable is constructed for courses to be at maximum class size. When a student has selected a specific program or has specialized courses, this significantly reduces the flexibility for changes to students’ timetables. (The last day to submit a Change Request can be found below. Students need to be attending the courses on their timetable until a change has been made. Changes can be viewed through MyEdBC once the timetables have been posted).

Course Change Request Priorities
PRIORITY 1:
INCOMPLETE TIMETABLES
- Student has fewer than 8 courses within their timetable (Blocks A–D)
- Study Block & Student Aide DO count toward the 8 course requirement
- Courses outside the timetable (e.g., before/after school or external programs) DO NOT count toward the 8 course requirement
- Students with 8 courses that include courses outside the regular timetable may still be considered incomplete if they do not have 8 timetable courses (Blocks A–D)
Example:
7 timetable courses + Study Block → COMPLETE (8 courses)
6 timetable courses + 2 outside timetable courses → INCOMPLETE (still Priority 1)
PRIORITY 2:
INCORRECT TIMETABLES
- Student does not have prerequisite to the take course
- Student has already completed the course and it is still on timetable
PRIORITY 3:
REQUIRED COURSE (GRADUATION OR POST SECONDARY)
- Student is missing a required course for graduation (e.g., English 12, Capstone)
- Student requires a specific course for a post-secondary program
- Requests related to post-secondary admission must include specific program, institution, and course requirement details. Incomplete or inaccurate information will result in the request being deprioritized.
PRIORITY 4:
PREFERENCE BASED (ELECTIVE) COURSE REQUESTS
- Requests to change courses based on preference (e.g. switching electives or changing from original course requests)
- Requests that are not required for graduation or post-secondary pathways
- Preference-based changes are requests made for interest or schedule preference, rather than academic requirements.
- Elective changes (Priority 4) will NOT be processed Aug 30-Sep 10.
- A separate form will open for elective changes from Sep 11-15.
- Requests submitted early will not be reviewed.

Summer/Online School Plans
Please see below for the process that WGSS uses to collect student course requests
When building the WGSS’s master schedule, the following opportunities are provided to students to help ensure they have the required courses to meet graduation requirements:
- Course Requests received in February
- Course Verifications received in the spring.
- Class Size and Composition requirements
- Promotions in June (e.g. if a student was unsuccessful in a core course, the student will be re-enrolled in the required course to meet BC graduation requirements)
- Summer Session Course Change Requests processed based on the information provided through the WGSS Form (changes are made, where possible, to accommodate student requests. In some cases the course requested is at capacity so the change requested is not possible.
Students and their families should view their schedule through online MyEdBC.
